MANILA – Intelligence operatives arrested early Monday the suspect in the death of a son of Malacañang official in November 2009.

A television report said Jason Ivler, 27, was arrested shortly after a brief exchange of gunfire with agents of the National Bureau of Investigation at the latter’s Quezon City home.

Ivler was rushed to Quirino Memorial Medical Center due to gunshot wounds. He is now at the hospital’s operating room, the report said.

The NBI agents were conducting a search at Ivler’s residence at Blue Ridge A subdivision in Quezon City when the fugitive son of an Asian Bank economist fired shots at the law enforcers.

Agents Ana Lanao of the agency’s intelligence service division and lawyer Lito Magno of the special action unit were hurt in the operation.

Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, Ivler’s mother, has earlier said her son has left the country after being accused of shooting Renato Victor Ebarle Jr., son of Undersecretary Renato Ebarle Sr., over a traffic altercation in November 18, 2009.

Pollard has been employing diversionary tactics in order hide the whereabouts of her son.

Ivler has another arrest warrant after he was charged for alleged involvement in the death of Nestor Ponce, a Malacañang official, in 2004. (ABC/Sunnex)
