THE Negros Occidental Provincial Board unanimously approved the P1-million donation to Marawi City during its regular session Wednesday, June 14.

Sixth District Board Member Pedro Zayco, vice chairman of committee on appropriations, budget, finance, ways and means, moved for the approval of the mass resolution.

The amount will be sourced from the subsidy for local government units released through grants and donations.

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. had certified as urgent the approval of the P1-million cash assistance as he also urged Negrenses to send donations through the Capitol.

He said the fund will be coursed through either the Department of Social Welfare and Development, or the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

“Negros Occidental stands with our Marawi brothers and sisters. The Provincial Government is now accepting help/donations for our Marawi brethren,” the governor said.
