Negros athletes all set for Prisaa opening

THE 135 student-athletes, coaches and officials from Negros Island Region (NIR) are all set for the 2017 National Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) from April 22 until April 29 at the Zambales Sports Complex in Iba, Zambales.

Feeling confident and hopeful are the 95 combined collegiate athletes and coaches, 38 from high school, and delegation officials.

The NIR contingent will compete in basketball men, men and women indoor volleyball and beach volley, badminton men and women, table tennis women, swimming men, and football men.

The high school division will have girls’ indoor volleyball and beach volley, badminton girls, athletics boys and girls.

NIR will also send entries for dance sports modern standard, vocal solo, vocal duet, and Mutya pageant.

Albert Atilano, Prisaa national executive director in charge of technical management operation, said the event has produced many national athletes, including Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz from the Universidad de Zamboanga.(HGD)
