THE City Government here will not hire any new faces as casual employees but the department heads are empowered to rehire their old casuals.

Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog issued the instructions to department heads not to get new workers but instead rehire and prefer only those who are computer literate out of the 1,447 non-permanent workers.

Mabilog said he will only receive about 75 percent of the 4,000 plus applicants that include old casuals and job hires under his administration to work with the City Government.

The applicants were told to go back to their mother unit and department heads to recommend their hiring.

Mabilog said that he is beseeched with thousands of job applicants everyday that deter him from performing his other functions as the city chief executive.

The city mayor decided to have a People's Day every Tuesday and Thursday each week open to receive people from all walks of life including those who applied for work.

On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, it will be the Mayor's Day to allow him to perform executive functions. (Lydia C. Pendon)
