Sunnexdesk

THE number of Filipinos who got married in church dropped, an official of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

Father Melvin Castro, executive secretary of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (ECFL), said most of the Filipinos nowadays were in favor of civil wedding because of lesser expenses.

He said the Catholic Church does not encourage couples to have a rich church wedding as practiced by some.

He said the decreasing number of church wedding was also brought about by inter-racial marriage or Filipino-foreigner marriage. (Sunnex)
