Oro police tighten security

THE Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has reportedly tightened its security in preparation for the city's fiesta celebration on August 28.

The move came as street crimes, such as snatching, pick pocketing and carnapping, are on the rise despite police visibility.

Police Superintendent Danildo Tumanda of the City Public Safety Management Company (CPSMC) said Cocpo has implemented security measures to ensure public safety, especially during the fiesta celebration.

"We have strengthened more police visibility in different areas to response to any police assistance if in case," Tumanda said.

He said the police have already arrested several suspected criminals, with the implementation of police mobile and foot patrol.

There were reports that suspected criminals from other places are now in Cagayan de Oro City for the forthcoming fiesta celebration.

Tumanda said police initial investigation showed that most of those suspected criminals identified by victims were not from Cagayan de Oro.

Mayor Vicente Emano earlier requested military personnel from the 4th Infantry Division to augment police visibility in some vital areas in the city during the fiesta celebration. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
