THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has destroyed P15.625 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in Agusan del Sur.

PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña said the teams, composed of combined operatives from PDEA Regional Office 13 (PDEA RO13) and local policemen, with the assistance of Barangay Officials of Kasapa 1, conducted the operation on July 2, leading to the destruction of a total of 5,000 pieces of marijuana plants, weighing approximately 125 kilograms.

The illegal hemps were discovered in a cultivation site in Sitio Pilang, Barangay Kasapa-1, Loreto, Agusan del Sur. However, no cultivator was arrested during the operation.

Lapeña said there will be no let-up in PDEA’s campaign to contain the cultivation of marijuana, being the country’s second drug of choice among drug users. (SDR/Sunnex)
