THE anti-narcotics agencies have destroyed over P39-million worth of marijuana in Benguet province.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac Jr. said that agents of PDEA Regional Office-Cordillera Administration Region, in collaboration with Kibungan Municipal Police Station, conducted a massive marijuana eradication operation in Sitios Tanap and Bana, Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet on February 27 to March 1.

This resulted in the discovery of nine plantation sites, with an estimated land area of 15,600 square meters.

A total of 120,800 fully-grown marijuana plants, 4,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings and 122,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks, with a total estimated market value of P39,570,000, were destroyed as a result of the four-day operation.

The uprooted marijuana plants were burned on-site. However, no cultivator was arrested during the conduct of the marijuana eradication operations, Cacdac said. (SDR/Sunnex)
