A P39.5-MILLION budget for the renovation of the Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB) Hospital in La Carlota City has been referred for approval by the Provincial Board, said Negros Occidental Governor Isidro Zayco.

The budget will be sourced from the P900-million loan of the Provincial Government with the LandBank of the Philippines, said Zayco, adding that the loan was released to the province in tranches.

Zayco earlier said of the total loan amount the Provincial Government availed only of P100 million which were allotted for the repair and other operating expenses of the Provincial Jail Management, Valladolid District Hospital, and Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City.

The governor stressed that due to legislative processes required to avail of the P39.5-loan, and the banning period of the elections is near, he decided that the implementation of the project in La Carlota hospital will only be after June 30, “…when the new governor assumes office.”

The banning for the implementation of the projects under Comelec Rules and Regulations will be on March 26. (Teresa Ellera-Dulla)
