P864-M aid given to 4Ps beneficiaries

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Davao distributed a total of P864,307,800 resources via cash cards to poor families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Davao Region in 2017.

DSWD-Davao public information officer Carmela Duron said there were 260,929 Pantawid Pamilya who benefited the program.

She said these are the households who have complied with all the requirements of the program.

In a data obtained from the DSWD-Davao, the agency distributed a total of P775,903,100 for regular conditional cash transfer (CCT) beneficiaries, of which P506,974,700 of the budget were cash grants and P268,928,400 rice subsidy.

The DSWD also distributed a total of P88,405,400 for the modified conditional cash transfer (MCCT) beneficiaries, of which P56,369,000 of the budget were cash grants and P32,036,400 were rice subsidy.

The MCCT program is meant for the vulnerable poor sectors not included in the 2009 data base of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) for lack of permanent address.

CCT or 4Ps is one of the poverty-alleviation programs of the agency that provide cash grants for education and health of the children of the beneficiary families that aims to make them finish studies and be employable members of society in the future.

DSWD said MCCT is patterned after the CCT, also a poverty-alleviation program that appropriately caters to the street dwellers and indigenous groups that are in nomadic conditions due to lack of permanent dwelling.
