MANILA (Updated) -- Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will continue to be felt in most parts of the country until November 1, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

It its 4 p.m. Monday update, Pagasa noted that a low pressure area (LPA) was located at 300 kilometers east of Surigao City.

Aldczar Aurelio, Pagasa weather specialist, said the combined effects of the LPA and the tail-end of a cold front will continue until All Saints' Day.

Metro Cebu and the rest of Cebu province will also experience isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms on Thursday, November 2, Pagasa said.

The Visayas and the regions of Bicol, Caraga, Davao and Northern Mindanao are affected by the weather condition. These areas will experience scattered rains and thunderstorms.

But Aurelio assured the LPA is not likely to form into a typhoon.

"Ito pong LPA na binabantayan natin sa ngayon ay mababa ang tsansa na maging ganap bagyo ngunit possible na tumawid dito sa [Mindanao] areas sa mga susunod na araw (The LPA that we're monitoring now has a low chance of becoming a typhoon but it is possible it will cross the Mindanao area in the coming days)," said Samuel Duran, weather forecaster.

Meanwhile, a northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting northern Luzon.

Due to wind convergence of the trough of the LPA and northeast monsoon, Aurora province will be cloudy with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The regions of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, and Cordillera, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. (SunStar Philippines/PNA)
