John Roger "Darlah" Orquiza

ILOILO-BASED coal power producer Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) is open to the possibility of putting up a power plant in Negros Occidental.

“If there is a need and a clamor why not. We’re very conscious of the stakeholders. If there is a demand, there's a clamor, we will evaluate and look into it,” PCPC president and chief executive officer Roel Castro said.

The firm held a Customers Appreciation Night Friday, August 25, at Planta Hotel in Bacolod City attended by officers of electric cooperatives which have power supply agreements with PCPC.

It 135-megawatt coal-fired power plant is located at Barangay Nipa, Concepcion town in northern Iloilo.

Castro said they supply a total of 70 MW to Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, Northern Negros Electric Cooperative and Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative.

He added that they are also looking at the possibility of putting up a hydro power plant in Mindanao.
