Palparan, Alcover can appeal non grata tag

Sunnexdesk

THE Davao City council committee on peace and order and public safety said the two personalities earlier declared as "personae non grata" can still appeal on its decision.

Nilo Abellera said Retired General Jovito Palparan and Anad Representative Juan Alcover can still write a letter of appeal to the mayor or vice mayor to be forwarded to City Council for evaluation.

The council declared Palparan and Alcover as "personae non grata" after saying over and over in their radio and television appearances and press conferences that Davao city is not a safe place to live in.

The council believes that statements made by the retired general and Anad representative run counter to the efforts made by the city and its people for investment promotions.

Persona non grata literally means "an unwelcome person", a person of position as unacceptable to the government, Abellera earlier explained. (RMH)
