Papers for third bridge secured: Mayor Cho

Vince Harlan A. Chua

THE documents needed for the proposed third bridge that will connect Cebu City to Cordova have been secured.

With the documentation process concluded, Cordova Mayor Therese Sitoy-Cho said that formal groundbreaking for the third bridge will finally be initiated on March 2.

Cho said they are now in the process of marking where the bridge will start construction.

Cho added that they received reports that President Rodrigo Duterte will be present in the formal groundbreaking in Cordova before the third bridge’s construction.

But Cho said they are securing confirmation from the President’s staff if he is able make it on March 2 for the groundbreaking ceremony.

“We are not that sure if he (Duterte) comes, even though we received initial commitment from him. That will depend on his schedule,” Cho said in Cebuano.

Cho said that once the bridge starts construction, it will take three to four years to complete.

She said the project will pave the way for more development in Cordova and shorten the travel time from Cebu City to Mactan Island.
