THE visiting Philippine Navy arnis team ruled the 5th Sinulog Eskrima Tournament at the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation headquarters in Banilad last Saturday.

The navy finished the competition with eight golds and eight silver medals. It was closely followed by junior players-laden Banilad Academy, which had seven gold medals.

Mandaue was at third place with five gold medals.

The competition, which was supposed to be an outdoor tournament at the Doce Pares park in Busay was moved to Banilad because of the rains.

Fernando Parcon and Juan Furiscal Jr., won two gold medals each for the navy.

Parcon defeated Agapito Legaspi Jr. in the single-stick and in the double stick match against Hobert Cosquejo of Iloilo City.

Furiscal, on the other hand, topped the double stick forms and the lightweight division title of the double stick against David Arwell Camus of Banilad.

He also fished a silver medal in the single stick match.

The other gold medalists for the Navy were Roldan Ramirez in the single stick traditional forms, Jessie Candado and Peter Dahan.
