PKTS-RNKA karatekas shine at Buglasan championships

KARATEKAS from Bacolod City brought home nine golds, 10 silvers and two bronzes from the two-day Buglasan Festival Karatedo Championships held at the Negros Oriental High School Gymnasium in Dumaguete City on October 29 and 30.

They belong to the Philippine Karatedo Traditional and Sports Association-Red Najukajua Karatedo Advocate (PKTS-RNKA) mentored by Sensei Romy “Jong” Lisondra Jr., regional director of PKF-NSA Negros Island Region.

Living Stones International School’s Cherry Angela Rodriguez earned the gold in the individual kata and the silver in the synchronized kata while twin brother Charles Angelo Rodriguez, also the team captain, took the gold in the synchronized kata and the silver in individual kata.

Their schoolmate Gaius Corral capture the bronze in individual kata and the silver in kumite.

Negros Occidental High School’s Claire Corral captured the gold in the individual kata and the silver in kumite.

Other medalists were Verxia Zeth Condada of E. J. Garcia Elementary School, gold in kumite, and silver in individual and synchronized kata while her brother Reivax Josh Condada of J.O.Y. Christian School, gold both in kumite and synchronized kata, and silver in individual kata; Zyrhon Vallejera also of J.O.Y. Christian School, gold in individual and synchronized kata, and bronze in kumite; University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos’ Mary Kathleen Canieso, two silvers, each for individual and synchronized kata while her younger brother Ivan Michelle Canieso of E.C. Montesorri, silver in the individual novice kata; and Trinity Christian School’s Janelle Faye Villa, gold in individual kata and silver in synchronized kata. (PR)
