Police stations to keep some lights on for Earth Hour

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) opted for a “selective observance” of tomorrow’s Earth Hour, when people turn off lights for one hour.

Officials said it would be a “security nightmare” to turn off all the lights in the police headquarters and stations.

“All police stations shall be lighted as well as other major units, particularly the operations section,” said CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador, Jr.

At the CCPO headquarters inside Camp Sotero Cabahug, most of the lights will be shut off, Comendador said.

Anticipating that most of the households will join the global activity meant to mitigate damage to the environment, Comendador reminded house owners to watch out for burglars.

He said maximum deployment of police personnel will be implemented to secure streets when households and commercial and industrial establishments plunge into darkness from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. tomorrow.
