Power outage in 3 provinces due to Tropical Depression 'Auring'

TROPICAL Depression "Auring" affected three transmission lines in Caraga region and one in Northern Mindanao, causing power outages in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Bukidnon.

As of 2 p.m. Monday, power system operator National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the Puerto-Damilag line affecting the Bukidnon II Electric Cooperative Inc. (Buseco) and its service area was restored by 11:07 a.m. Monday. Power line was out Sunday, January 8, at 6:11 p.m.

Placer substation in Surigao del Norte experienced total loss of power due to outage of the Butuan-Placer line at about 9:47 p.m., Sunday, January 8.

"Based on the report, two transmission structures were toppled due to heavy flooding in the area. Restoration works have started," NGCP said in its official Twitter account.

Affected transmission lines and facilities were the 34.5-kV Puerto-Damilag line, 138-kV Butuan-Placer line 1, 69-kV Placer-Madrid line, and 69-kV Placer-Surigao line.

Aside from Buseco, others affected are Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative, Inc., Siargao Island Electric Cooperative, Inc. and Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc., all in Caraga region. (Sunnex)
