Pre-dawn quake jolts Catanduanes (12:50 p.m.)

MANILA -- A moderate earthquake struck off the coast of Catanduanes before dawn Saturday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

The quake that took place around 2:17 a.m. had its epicenter 125 kilometers east southeast of Pandan town in Catanduanes at a depth of 22.7 kilometers. No damage has been reported yet from the earthquake.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) posted on its website that a magnitude-3.3 quake rattled parts of Bohol province Friday night, but no damage and aftershocks were expected.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 7:40 p.m, with epicenter around 9 kilometers northeast of Tagbilaran City at a shallow depth of 12 kilometers.
