FATHER Teresito “Chito” Suganob and another hostage of the Maute terror group were rescued by government forces in Marawi City on Saturday, September 16.

Presidential Adviser on Peace Process Jesus Dureza posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, September 17, that he got the information from Franklin Quijano.

Quijano was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as administrator and chief executive officer of the Philippine Veterans Investment Development Corporation-Industrial Authority and as a member of the board of directors of the same institution.

Dureza said the hostages were rescued near Bato Mosque, which is the second grand mosque in Marawi City that has been taken over by the troops.

"To those who would wish to get more details, please wait for the official announcement coming from the AFP (Armed Forces Of the Philippines) and or the Palace in order not to jeopardize the ongoing military operations," Dureza added.

Suganob, the vicar-general of the prelate of St. Mary Church in Marawi, was taken, along with over 240 other individuals whom he said are now “prisoners of war" by the Maute group when it attacked Marawi City on May 23.

Suganob appeared in the video, appealing to Duterte to give in to the demands of the extremists and withdraw government forces from Marawi City and the entire Lanao del Sur.

The video was released by the Maute group.
