PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte said that the investigation against the three generals and some policemen allegedly involved in corruption has been completed and charges are now being prepared against them.

Duterte, upon his arrival from his foreign trip in India, explained the delay of naming these generals, citing that he has yet to look closely on the allegations and find probable reason to terminate their service from the government.

"Nagtapos na ang investigation. It's just a matter of looking into charges,” the President said.

In an earlier report, Duterte said that there were recommendations for the termination of service of three high-ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and erring policemen.

He said that he could not fire them immediately as due process will be imposed.

"When you fire people especially yong matataas, you have to be very careful,” he said.

“There's a recommendation to terminate them that's why I announce it. But whether I will go ahead with it, I have to personally being a lawyer to review. I need time,” he said.

Duterte said that he is keen on cleaning his government from corrupt officials. He earlier sacked Philippine Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) chief Marcial Amaro III and Philippine Commission on Urban Poor chief Terry Ridon for excessive junkets.
