Registration for firecracker sellers starts

John Paul Villanueva

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has opened the registration for retailers and sellers of firecrackers and other pyrotechnics in the city.

Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, public information officer of BCPO, said sellers usually start to register in the first week of December.

Upon registration, sellers should comply with the requirements set by the Firearms and Explosives Security and Guard Supervision (Fesags) Office.

Registrants should have a letter-request indicating the location of their business, a certification from the dealer’s owner, and village, police, court, and fire clearances.

They are also required to attend a safety training course as part of their accreditation, before securing a special bank receipt, and mayor’s permit.

She said securing a permit is important as part of the standard procedure to operate a business.

“This is also to avoid the confiscation of products,” she added.

In Bacolod, the usual area intended for the selling of firecrackers is located at the back of the Pope John Paul II tower.
