SAN SIMON -- Councilor Ann Dayrit-Canlas of this town decided to resign from her post as a member of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) in exchange for the petition of her husband who is now residing permanently in the United States.

Former Mayor Rodrigo Canlas told Sun.Star Pampanga that his daughter-in-law will file her resignation as municipal councilor and member of the SB to migrate to the US by September this year.

The former mayor added that Canlas decided to resign and permanently reside in the US with her husband, AR.

The move is for the future of her family, Canlas said.

"Approve na ang petisyon ni Ann sa Amerika at kinukuha na siya ng anak ko para doon na sila manirahan ng permanente at mas pinili ni Ann na makasama ang kanyang asawa sa US kaysa manatili pa din dito sa Pilipinas kahit isa siyang konsehala," the former mayor said.

The councilor won and garnered 10,737 votes in the last May 2013 elections as councilor under the ticket of Mayor Leonora Wong.

No official statements have been released by the SB as to who will replace Canlas in the council.
