CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- An alleged scavenger was shot dead by a security guard on duty inside the compound of Asahi Group International located inside the Subic Bay Freeport recently.

Senior Superintendent Pedilberto Delos Reyes, Olongapo City Police director, identified the victim as Marvin Garcia alias Ingkoy.

Delos Reyes said that security guard Benjamin Seno, 28, of Vesta Security and Investigation Specialist was conducting a routine check-up when he spotted two unidentified males.

Seno tried to accost them but they suddenly turned their backs, acting like drawing a gun from their waists.

This prompted the guard to shoot one of them, hitting Garcia in the left side of the body, he said.

Although wounded, Garcia and his unidentified cohort immediately fled towards New Kalalake River.

Delos Reyes and Barangay Kagawad Edwin Ecleo found Garcia with blood in the said river and took him to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by attending doctors. (Ric Sapnu)
