MANILA -- Coaches who steered the Philippines for fifth place in the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos last year will also get a cash incentive.

Totaling P3.30 million, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) ordered the release of cash incentives in accordance to the Republic Act 9064 or the Sports Benefits and Incentives Act of 2001.

Under the law, coaches should be given half the equivalent of the cash rewards for gold, silver and bronze medalists.

Hence, coaches will be receiving P50,000 for gold, P25,000 for silver and P5,000 for bronze winners they produced.

The 251-man delegation saw action in the landlocked nation from December 9 to 18, 2009 finishing fifth in the 11-nation meet reaping 38 gold, 35 silver and 50 bronze medals. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
