SJI spikers cop Nopsscea soft volley crown

St. JOHN’S Institute (SJI) dominated the 2009 Nopsscea Volleyball league Girls 10-under age category after two of their three teams fielded overcame their respective rivals and clinched in the soft volleyball finals at the University of St. La Salle (USLS) covered courts last Feb. 6, 2010.

SJI-A was led by team captain Martha Araneta, Angel Sy, Hannah Infante, Faye De Lumen, Nicole Jison and Rhianna Ramos, surfaced on top of the team standings, following the triumphant victories over USLS-A, Trinity Christian School, St. Benilde-B, UNO-R and SJI-B.

After conceding the championship to their sister team, SJI-B reaped the runner-up honors through the wins over Collegio de San Agustin, St. Benilde-A, SJI-C, USLS-B and a thrilling 3-setter match over USLS-A. SJI-C performed beyond expectations with two victories and defeats from SJI-B and the eventual 3rd placer USLS-A.

The SJI teams are mentored by Coaches Peter Yusay, Michael Baloyo and Albert Diwatin.
