Sugarcane worker killed by colleagues in Bacolod

A SUGARCANE worker was stabbed to death by his fellow workers inside their barracks at Hacienda Elsa, Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City on Saturday.

Police identified the fatality as John Clemar Mumbatso, 37, of Barangay Pait, La Carlota City.

Senior Inspector John Ganzon, chief of Police Station 4, said Mumbatso had a drinking session with Pacore siblings Leo, 20 and Larry Jr., 19, both of Barangay Bokros, La Carlota City, when a heated argument ensued between them around 8 p.m.

The brothers ganged up on Mumbatso and attacked him with a bladed weapon.

Ganzon said homicide charges will be filed against the Pacore brothers, who are at-large.

Barker found dead

A barker was found dead at the Northbound Terminal in Barangay Banago, Bacolod City on Saturday.

Police identified the fatality as a certain "Bangkay," 30, of Silay City.

Senior Inspector Larry Teovisio, head of Police Station 3, said the passenger jeepney terminal's maintenance crew found the victim lying on the ground around 5:45 a.m.

Teovisio said the victim died due to an illness caused by severe cough and asthma.
