CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Provincial Police awarded Wednesday Sun.Star Pampanga columnist Ric Sapnu a plaque of recognition for helping boost the police image in this city.

Police Provincial Director Gil Lebin Jr. said that Sapnu, through his column Dateline Olivas, has helped lift the moral of the men in uniform.

He said Sapnu's write-ups of police accomplishments and current developments at the Philippine National Police (PNP) has created an image for the police as true protectors of the people.

Sapnu, who has been writing for Sun.Star Pampanga for some 12 years now, is known for sometimes critical and informative stories in his police beat.

His "intelligence officer" source has earned him raves, particularly his punchline "Nagtatanong lang po" (Just asking).

For his part, Sapnu said he was grateful for the recognition given to him by the local PNP. (JTD)
