THE Netherlands Ambassador to the Philippines Marion Derckx on Monday reached out to Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno to affirm their ties in crafting policies for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Marawi who are opting to live in the city.

Councilor Romeo Calizo said The Netherlands is ready to extend assistance in its project that aims to profile IDPs.

"Our identification system will benefit the IDPs because when they receive their identification cards, they can also avail of all the assistance intended for them hassle-free," Calizo said.

"Her Excellency Ambassador Derckx pledges full support and cooperation of profiling system. She came to discuss on how they can help our project and work it out the best possible way,” he added.

To date, the city has over 2,000 home-based IDPs, while some 30 families are still residing in Indahag evacuation center. (With Em Mejala and Darlene Pernia, FSUU interns)
