MEGAN Young and Tom Rodriguez are excited for the upcoming remake of the hit Mexican drama, "Marimar."

In a report by the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Young compared the television project to being crowned as Miss World 2013.

"Marimar" is Young's first project after she signed a contract with GMA Network last March.

Young said she is already anticipating comparisons to Marian Rivera, who played the role in 2007. The former beauty queen also wished to meet the Kapuso Primetime Queen for advice.

“So, sabi ko na lang, I’ll do it in my own way, na hindi ako susunod sa ginawa ng iba,” Young said.

“I have to focus, or else I wouldn’t be...giving respect to those who came before if I don’t focus and do my best," said Rodriguez, whose character, Sergio Santibañez, was previously played by Dingdong Dantes.

Marimar first aired in 1994 starring Thalia, a prominent Mexican singer-actress. (Marie Shane Krizzia Delgado, UST intern/Sunnex)
