LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police Chief Inspector Mario Mayames Jr. relinquished with honors from his post as top cop of this highland town after his years of service.

Mayames started his service to the valley in October of 2008. “This is my hometown, it was an honor to have served here,” he said.

Mayames was given a commendation by the local council as well as the local trucker’s organizations and Trading Post businessmen.

The Council cited his bravery during the height of typhoon Pepeng to which he rendered round the clock service for search and rescue operations of those hit by the storm.

Mayames was a graduate of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1998.

Trading Post stakeholders likewise commended Mayames for his strict implementation of vegetable trafficking innovations, which helped the smooth flow of vehicles inside the vegetable depository.

Mayor Artemio Galwan said it was an honor to have worked with Mayames and lauded the police chief’s work ethic and humility.

Chief Inspector Freddie Montes Lazona, a native of Bakun town, will replace Mayames.

Lazona is a member of PNPA Class 1999, a direct underclassman of Mayames.

Lazona promised to continue projects left by the outgoing police chief. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
