Town road mishap kills 2, hurts 1

TWO persons died, while another one was seriously injured after the collision of two vehicles in Sanayon Site, Barangay Pasil, Santander, Cebu on Monday morning.

Police identified the fatalities as Crisellano Jugo, the 45-year-old driver of Suzuki mini-van, and his passenger, Junefilo Rubio, 32.

Roosevelt Sanguinza, 46, suffered serious injuries in different parts of his body.

At 6 a.m., the Isuzu D-Max driven by Engr. Ernesto Mendez, 47, overtook a motorcycle traveling ahead of him along the national highway's blind curve. Mendez is the municipal engineer of Santander.

The vehicle hit the mini-van, which was on the opposite lane.

Mendez was ferrying his child to school when the accident happened, but police said both of them were not seriously hurt.

Mendez surrendered to the police.

Complaints of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries may be filed against Mendez if he cannot reach a settlement with the victims' families.
