A TRICYCLE driver and seven high school students were injured in a three-vehicle collision along the national highway in Barangay Tabao Rizal, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, Friday morning, police said.

Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said the tricycle driven by Alfredo Balena Jr. was hit by a Toyota Montero Sport driven by Baltazar Jualayba of Kabankalan City.

This happened when the driver of the Toyota vehicle attempted to overtake the Isuzu Sportivo driven by Romy Rubio. Both Jualayba and Rubio were bound for Bacolod City.

Balena’s passengers were seven high school students who were rushed to a hospital in Valladolid town, Lirazan said.

Jualayba, who also sustained minor injuries, has been placed under police custody, Lirazan said.
