MANILA -- Officials said 10 people were hurt during turbulence on their flight from Bahrain to the Philippines.

Manila airport operations manager Octavio Lina said Tuesday that cabin crew and seven passengers were bruised when the Airbus 330 encountered severe air pockets over Vietnam before dawn Monday.

He said nine of those hurt were immediately brought to a hospital for treatment.

A hospital staff member said two female crew members were thrown off their seats and landed on their backs. He says the others suffered bumps on their heads. The staffer spoke anonymously because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

A Gulf Air spokesman was not immediately available for comment. (AP)
