Umpa: De Lima will do great at DOJ

Sunnexdesk

REGIONAL State Prosecutor Jaime Umpa expressed confidence that newly installed Justice Secretary Leila de Lima will do great at the justice department and can do more for justice in the country.

Umpa said de Lima has made important contributions in advancing human rights in the country as she led the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) in the past two years.

"Naniniwala din ako na Justice Secretary de Lima will able to change and reform the judiciary dahil alam naman natin na in the past medyo hindi maganda ang image nito," Umpa said.

He even recalled how the justice department was tagged before as "department store" because of some members who allegedly enter into a compromise agreement with the case they were handling.

Umpa said all prosecutors, particularly in Northern Mindanao, are happy with the appointment of de Lima knowing her track record as CHR commissioner as they are throwing their support to her. (Annabelle L. Ricalde)
