University of Baguio journalists triumph in press conference

THE University of Baguio High School Special Program for Arts and Science-Journalism triumphed in the recently concluded National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) 2010.

The event was held at Tagum City, Davao del Norte last February 22-26.

Newslite, the official English Publication garnered Best in Sports Page and ranked third place in the overall top seven regions among 255 school paper entries nationwide.

Meanwhile, Sinag, the official Filipino Publication placed second in Best Sports Page, third place in Best in Layout Page Design, and fifth place in the overall top seven regions among 255 school paper entries nationwide.

On the other hand, UBHS’ Best Actress Erika M. Capumpue landed third in the Festival of Talents category among 17 entries nationwide while Shirley-Ann Bomogao Badongen proved her journalistic prowess as she placed seventh in the Editorial Writing category besting 51 entries nationwide.

Alvin Cecil C. Micu, UBHS School Paper adviser, bagged the most coveted title in campus paper advising and was proclaimed as the Outstanding School Paper Adviser for the secondary level.

After winning this same award during the Division Schools Press Conference and Regional Schools Press Conference late last year, he was hailed as a National Outstanding Paper Adviser.
