Village chief denounces extrajudicial killings

John Kevin D. Pilapil

ANGELES CITY -- A village chief in this city has condemned extrajudicial killings allegedly perpetrated by drug lords, Ninja cops, and other vigilante groups.

Chairman Tony Mamac of Barangay Balibago said that he supports legitimate Philippine National Police (PNP) operations against drug pushers and users.

Mamac said that the 33 barangay chairmen of Angeles City, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan, and Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) head Alex Cauguiran supported the nation-wide anti-drug campaign held at the Quezon City Circle on Friday.

Barangay and city officials of this city expressed support to President Duterte’s anti-drugs drive.

Mamac said that he, with help of other barangay officials in Balibago, has intensified the village’s anti-drug drive in support of President Duterte’s nationwide campaign.

The village chief said the barangay council has allotted P500,000 to augment funds for surrenderees who availed of the government’s recovery program for drug pushers and users.

The barangay also hired some of the suspected drug users and their spouses as street sweepers and garbage collectors.
