JIABONG, Samar -- A village councilor and his mother were confirmed dead in an accident involving a motorized cab and a truck around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11.

Marvin Anonuevo of Alert Phillippines, a volunteer rescue group in Jiabong town, identified the first fatality as Lucia Lagbo, 62, of Barangay Salvacion, Jiabong.

Lagbo was a passenger of a black TMX 125 motorcycle with a sidecar driven by her son, Jelito Lagbo, 27, a councilor of Barangay Salvacion, when it collided with a Fuso truck driven by Paulo Sangcajo, 41, of Barangay 63, Tacloban City.

Jelito was rushed to a nearby medical facility but did not survive, said his sister Merlita.

Two other riders of the motorcab, namely, John Patrick, 12, and John Herbey, 6, survived the impact and are now confined at the Samar Provincial Hospital in Catbalogan City.
