A VILLAGE watchman was shot dead in Barangay Nangka, Consolacion, Cebu around 6:25 a.m. Tuesday, March 28.

Wilson Batucan, a tanod of Barangay Cansaga, was hit by the bullet in the left side of his head.

Police are looking into the connection of illegal drugs in the shooting since Batucan, being a tanod, may have some knowledge on the issue.

Batucan was father of the seven-year-old child, Saniño Cañedo Batucan, who was also shot dead by a stray bullet last December.

The younger Batucan was watching a television show at home when the incident happened. He was shot by a suspected drug personality who fired a gun and missed his target after an illegal drug operation.

As of this posting Tuesday, police are still investigating the motive in the killing. (OPM/SunStar Philippines)
