MANILA -- For Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria, the word “defeat” has no place on his vocabulary.

The former Sydney Olympian said he would never leave anything to chance as he tries to score a comeback at the expense of Mexican pugilist Omar “Lobito” Soto in a 10-round non-title match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Viloria suffered one of his worst losses on his 29 fights as a pro when an unheralded Carlos Tamara snatched his International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight crown last January 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

“I want to go back here because my heart (for the sport) is still there. I have to march forward. I’m so focused to go back to the top of the mountain and win a world title,” he said.

Soto, on the other hand, assured fans that he will never leave the Philippines without sizing up for the challenge as he trained his sights for a bitter upset against Viloria in the 112-lb division.

Boxing action starts at 5:30 p.m. today, Saturday, with five undercards excluding the pre-main event bout of reigning IBF Pan Pacific Lightweight champion Al Sabaupan against Wonchit Twins Gym. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
