Whirlwind hits Argao village (5:51 p.m.)

CEBU CITY -- The Municipal Government of Argao vowed to distribute on Friday housing materials to the victims of the whirlwind that hit a village in Argao, Cebu.

The whirlwind hit Barangay Talaga for about 30 minutes Thursday dawn, destroying 14 houses and other structures, and damaging even the village's banana plantation.

According to the local government of Argao, the damage in property reached P650,000. The affected families are staying at their neighbors' houses for the meantime.

In a television interview, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia said the Provincial Government has already sent relief goods to the victims. (Sunnex)
