THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 4 formally welcomed on Tuesday, January 15, its new regional director.

Regional Director Edgar B. Tolentino was formally installed as new RR4 chief by BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay in simple ceremonies at the regional office here.

Tolentino takes over the helm of the BIR RR4 from regional director Jethro Sabariaga, who is now assigned in Laguna.

Sabariaga welcomed Tolentino, adding that the new director will be welcomed by a strong regional workforce. He also thanked the business sector of the Central Luzon business corridor for helping the BIR under his watch meet targets in the past three years.

Sabariaga thanked Governor Lilia Pineda for her support to BIR. Sabariaga oversaw the completion of the P600-million new building of the BIR in Barangay Sindalan, San Fernando. The Provincial Government of Pampanga earlier donated a P200-million one-hectare property to the BIR RR4 for the construction of its building.

Sabariaga’s term has seen great strides in the collection of BIR here in the past two years with RR4 as among the top performers in revenue collection in the country.
