THE University of the Assumption (UA) Cinense Library recently opened a faculty lounge and workstation-laptop-nap (WLN) area during the back-to-back celebration of the Library and Information Services Month and National Book Week on its university library.

The lounge offers faculty members a comfort space where they can study, read, and relax, while the WLN area provides the students a learning facility where they can do their academic requirements or simply take a nap after a busy day in school.

UA director of Libraries Roilingel Calilung revealed that the idea of these activities was conceived last September, 2018.

“The motivation of launching the two facilities is to make the library more responsive to the needs of its clients. We just feel that it is needed by the students and faculty members,” Calilung said.

Meanwhile, a book entitled “The Labyrinth of Minerva” written by a student from the UA's College of Engineering and Architecture named Xavier Efraem Alega was also launched during the opening of the facilities.

Calilung stated that he is very proud that one of the library’s clients, an architecture student, was able to publish a book at such a young age.

The event was wrapped up with the launching of the UA Library’s Media and Information Literacy Program which featured five lectures on media and information literacy, financial literacy, cultural literacy, positive psychology, and self-development literacy.
