ANGELES CITY -- Some 1,000 poor but deserving students will receive P1,000 cash assistance from the City Government.

This after Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr.'s request to realign the P1 million budget of Special Program for the Employment of the Students (SPES) for the priority programs of the city government, particularly for the youth, was granted by the Department of the Labor Employment (DOLE).

The said budget is the 60 percent counterpart of the local government unit for the implementation of the 2020 SPES, Lazatin said.

Mayor Lazatin vowed that the City Government will give a helping hand to all Angeleños amid the health crisis.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel on July 9, 2020, coordinated with Public Employment Services Officer Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio for the preparation of the distribution of the P1,000 cash assistance to 1,000 identified SPES beneficiaries in the city's 33 barangays.

Manuel said this is the continuous commitment of the Lazatin administration to look out for the welfare of each Angeleño regardless of age.

Moreover, in the letter sent by DOLE-Central Luzon Regional Director Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, she wrote that "rest assured that the Department will likewise continue to provide assistance in the best way we can." (PR)
