A TOTAL of 111 job seekers were hired on the spot during the City Job Fair 2020 held at SM City San Fernando Downtown.

The activity was in line with the celebration of Kaganapan 2020. It was spearheaded by the City Employment Services Division (CESD) in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Pampanga Field Office III and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

Mayor Edwin Santiago, together with Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, SM City San Fernando Downtown mall manager Lana Erroba, Dole Pampanga Chief Arlene Tolentino, POEA Chief-Manpower Registry Division Corazon Ortizo, and Public Employment Service Office (Peso) Manager Donny Sayre, led the ceremonial ribbon cutting for the formal opening of the job fair.

More than 500 jobseekers participated in the fair, which offered 2,000 job vacancies in 30 participating companies comprised of 27 local companies and six overseas firms.

In his speech, Santiago reiterated to all applicants the importance of hard work, perseverance and determination.

He encouraged them to always aim for success in order to have a brighter future.

He added that the local government will remain steadfast in providing livelihood and employment to Fernandinos to thoroughly achieve its agenda "Matatag na Kabuhayan, Tuluy-tuloy ang Kabuhayan."

(PR)
