SOME 1,800 college students received their scholarship assistance from the Muncipal Government of Mexico at the Mexico Gymnasium over the weekend.

Mayor Teddy Tumang personally led the distribution of cheques to the scholars. Each scholar received P3,000.

Tumang said that while the assistance is not big, it is enough to inspire the students to pursue their studies. She added that it is the responsibility of not just the parents to send their children to school but also of the whole community.

“The education of these children is not just the obligation of the school or of the government. It is also the obligation of [the] parents and the whole community. I for one dedicate myself in helping in their education,” Tumang said.
