BACOLOR This town’s mayor, Eduardo "Diman" Datu, ordered the closure of two poultry farms found to be operating sans business permits and non-compliant with bio-security measures.

In two separate intiatives, Datu has ordered the closure of Ayes Poultry Farm in Barangay San Isidro and AGD Poultry farms in Barangay San Antonio.

The poultry farms were closed based on the recommendations of the Municipal Joint Field Monitoring and Inspection Team who have conducted inspections on the said farms.

The 13-man team said the two farms have been violating several laws and operating without business and sanitary permits.

The farms were also stopped from operating for non-compliance with bio-security measures and protocols, improper chicken manure disposal, failure to secure building permits, and failure to pay real property taxes.

Both farms have not paid real property taxes in 2021 and 2022, according to the records of the Office of the Municipal Assessors.

The two farms have not been issued clearance by the Municipal Agriculture Office due to non-compliance with the requirements of biosecurity protocols.

The Municipal and Environment and Natural Resources Office found that both facilities failed to dispose their waste properly.

Datu said that the two farms were given 10 days to dispose their current livestock or face confiscation.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
