MASANTOL -- Aside from getting free training, scholars of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) from this town on Tuesday also received starter tool kits.

Mayor Danilo Guintu led the distribution of the equipment to 25 Masantoleño enrolled in Welding NC1 under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act.

Each of the scholars received a portable welding machine, a darkening welding helmet and an angle grinder, said Guintu.

He added that the program is part of the national and local government's goal of providing livelihood to Filipinos, especially those displaced by the pandemic.

"Meron na silang skills kaya ibinigay na rin natin iyong mga kailangan na kagamitan para talagang makapagsimula na sila at magamit ang skills na natutunan nila," the mayor said.

(They already have the skills so we have also provided them with the necessary equipment so that they can really get started and use the skills they have learned.)

He also reminded beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity given to them by the government in providing for the needs of their family.

"Marami ang gusto pero hindi lahat ang napipili kaya sulitin niyo ito, magtrabaho kayo para may makain ang mga pamilya niyo," he said.

(Many want but not all are chosen, so make the most of it, work so that your families have something to eat.)
