MABALACAT -- A village chief in Barangay Dau, this city’s entertainment area, will be opposed in the chairmanship race by his two councilors.

Dr. Oscar Aurelio, punong barangay of Dau and Liga ng mga Barangay president, and the two councilors Dereck Dee and Ralph Lauren David filed their respective certificates of candidacy for punong barangay in the May 14 elections.

Dee is a son of the late Anthony Dee, a prominent businessman in the city while David is a known interior decorator.

Aurelio said he welcomes the candidacy of the two councilors in what he described as “friendly-competition.”

The incumbent chairman said he and his three political rivals go for a peaceful and honest election.

“We are all barangay leaders and public servants,” Aurelio said.

The village chairman said Dee and David both support the barangay’s programs and projects particularly the maintenance of peace and order, solid waste management, anti-drugs, and others.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
