BALANGA CITY -- The Additive Manufacturing Research Laboratory (AMRel) of Bataan Peninsula State University is eyeing to expand its research capabilities by partnering with the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (Afab).

Afab officials, led by chairperson and administrator Emmanuel Pineda, visited AMRel for possible collaboration for their locators at the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB).

AMRel project leader John Ryan Dizon discussed to Afab officials the potential of the facility in innovative 3D printing technologies, processes, and materials.

"What we can offer to FAB is to help them with their small problems called rapid parts replacements wherein we can scan and print small parts using the 3D technology," Dizon said.

He said they can also provide trainings for FAB personnel and material testing using their technology.

Among the thrusts of the research lab are development of new materials, characterization and testing of materials, designing and analyzing of parts and systems, development of new materials using plastic materials, venue for faculty and students to share ideas, and facility for training, education and empowerment.

Recognized by the Department of Science and Technology, AMRel is the first 3D printing facility launched in the country.
